Cardinal Directions

You know how to use compass and how to read GPS?

They show or tell you, which way you're going. Knowing North, South, East and West, helps us when we drive, when we're reading a map, when we're giving directions and when we're learning about the world.

Here are the tips to remember North, South, East and West:

  • Never Eat Soggy Waffles.
  • Never Eat Slimy Worms
  • Never Eat Shredded Wheat
  • Never Eat Sour Watermelons
  • Not Eat Swell Well
  • Naughty Elephants Squirt Water
  • Never Enter Stinky Washrooms
  • Never Ever Smoke Weed
  • Never Entertain Sexy Women
  • Never Eat Spider Web
We can identify their directions with or without compass, in both ways. Let me explain how! So,

How do we identify directions with Compass?

In the east, just check out the sun in the sky. We can identify the east direction. As you know that there are four cardinal directions: East, West, North and South. Usually, a compass is used to show the directions. The pointer of the compass is a magnet that always points to the North.

Now identify North, once you get the North direction, then stand in such a way that your face is pointing to the North and behind you is the South.

Now stretch your hands. Your right hand will point towards East and left hand points towards East. East and West both are opposite directions.

How do we identify the directions without Compass?

The sun always rises in the East. It moves from the East to high in the sky. Afternoon, it goes towards the West and sets in the West. If you face the rising sun in the morning, that is East and on your back is West.
Keep it in mind that West is always on the opposite side to East. Now North is on your left and South is on your right side.

Now you know, its that easy to identify these directions.
